The summer is coming to an end and so is our summer challenge. Are you sad? I am, a bit. But maybe it's just the rain outside :)
How was your challenge? Have you reached all your goals and read as much stuff in foreign languages as you wished? I'd like to hear about your experience! If you choose to write a wrap-up, that'd be great, and I'll link it here. But if you are lazy, that's not obligatory, of course :) But please at least comment below, because I'm curious, you know :)
After you finish your reading and if you feel like it, please consider giving me some feedback about the challenge in the comments. It's my first challenge and I suspect it was far from perfect, but I'm eager to make it better! So did you like the format? The levels? The updates? The duration? Would you like to participate in it the next year? What would you change? Some constructive criticism is always welcome!
Thank you all for participation! I hope you've enjoyed your readings and feel proud for practicing such a useful language skill as reading in your language(s) of choice! Don't forget to congratulate yourselves and to celebrate properly!

wonderful! I'm French and live in the US. haven't read Harry Potter yet, and it's not available in French in my library, so I'm planning on reading it in Spanish one of those days
ReplyDeleteIf one of those days does not happen before the next summer, you are very welcome to join us in the challenge! :) I'm reading Harry Potter in Spanish myself :)
DeleteI loved this challenge; it's been one of the most fun that I've participated in. It's an original idea and gave me the incentive to challenge myself to read something a little more difficult, and also to write entire compositions in German, which I haven't done since school.
ReplyDeleteI especially liked that you put us on your feed, so you knew when we had a new review whenever we posted one.
Very, very enjoyable, thank you so much!
Thanks you for your kind words, Amy! The feed rule appeared because I'm not on very friendly terms with different linky services, and besides I hope this is easier for the participants! Sometimes I was too overloaded to comment immediately, but I hope I have never forgotten to do it at all. See you next year! :)
DeleteForgot to add that I will post a wrap-up on my blog sometime this week. Looking forward to this challenge if you decide to do it again next summer!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to having you next year! :)
DeleteIt was very good for me to practice my Danish! I feel faily because I didn't read my Russian book--life got in the way instead. Wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteOh, don't! Don't feel faily, you did awesome with Danish and German, and that's A LOT! There's always the next summer for Russian :)
DeleteOh good. I will look forward to it!
DeleteHey, sorry, I managed to add my review just in time before the end of August, do add the link to your list. http://peskypiksipesternomi.blogspot.in/2013/08/drachenreiter-von-cornelia-funke.html
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the challenge, gave me a chance to catch up to my German reading. Thanks!
Great, it's linked now. Thanks!
DeleteWow, so many people did so well! I failed miserably as I gave up on the first book I tried and sort of forgot about the second. No fault of the challenge, just me. Maybe next year?
ReplyDeleteSometimes life just happens! I hope to see you here next year! :)
DeleteI'm afraid I'm still reading my main work for the challenge, and I still plan to write about it, but it might be later this month or next month by the time I finish it. I wish I could have finished the book for the challenge, but I'm happy that I at least got to write about the comic books for it. I'll have to budget my time better next summer if you do this again! I do think it was a fantastic idea, and I only wish that I could have participated more.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are persisting even after the end of the challenge! Time budgeting is difficult, I'm struggling to make myself more efficient too, but laziness comes in the way :) Looking forward to seeing you next summer!
DeleteThis was my dream challenge! Many thanks, Ekaterina and also thanks to Amy@bookmusings for telling me about the challenge !

Thanks, Nancy! You are a most untiring reader of foreign language books I've ever met! I'm glad you've enjoyed the challenge!
DeleteThank you very much for writing such an interesting article on this topic. This has really made me think and I hope to read more. learn chinese in 5 minutes
