This will be my first R.I.P. event, and I have been looking forward to it and collecting books I want to read :) So from September 1st to October 31st I'm planning to read some of the following:
- Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
- Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake
- The Ocean At The End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
- The Mysteries of Udolpho by Anne Radcliffe
- The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole
- The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving
I am thus going for Peril the First level, which means I'm pledging to read at least four creepy books. Quite doable, I think! :)
You have a great stack. I love The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and I really want to read Titus Groan.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot about The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, so I'm looking forward!
DeleteI also have been wanting to read Titus Groan for ages. I haven't gotten around to it for some reason. There are so many books!
ReplyDeleteIt was ages for me, too. I've even bought the book to push myself :) Now I'll finally do it :)
DeleteI've read about this event in the past, but never taken part; however, right now I'm thinking this will be what I want to do as well! I already picked my books last night and will write my post before September 1st. Thanks for the information!
ReplyDeleteCarl's events are always fun, and I hope you'll enjoy it!
DeleteI haven't had a chance to read any of these but there are a few that are on my TBR list. Good luck with this challenge :)
ReplyDeleteThe Ransom Riggs book was good. I think the sequel is out soon. I should check on that!
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess it's due this or next year. I'm yet to decide if I want to read it though :)
DeleteWelcome!!! Love having first timers, especially when they have fun and come back! :) You have some great choices. I really enjoyed Miss Peregrine and am very much looking forward to the sequel. The Castle of Otranto is good, fun melodramatic gothic fare, as I suspect is Udolpho. I think I read Sleepy Hollow when I as in elementary school but remember little of the story. I've seen the Tim Burton film so many times that I cannot picture much else when I hear the title.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of funny things about both Udolpho and Otranto, so I guess they will be more funny than scary :) I need to check the Tim Burton film out after I finish the book!
